Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The #9 Oakes Tornadoes got their 7th straight victory as they beat the Sargent County Bulldogs by a final score of 62-45.

The game started out slow for both teams as Oakes went 5/14 and the Bulldogs went 3/8. Oakes would lead through the 1st 10-9. Oakes would really get rolling in the 2nd as Beau Thorpe would come to life dropping 2 treys and going 4/5 on the quarter to lead Oakes to a 30-22 lead. Sargent county would keep it close with several big steals and defensive plays from James Throener. As a team Oakes went 12/26 from the field and 3/5 from the line in the half. The Bulldogs went 9/20 for the half and 1/2 from the line.

The Bulldogs got started early in the 3rd to cut the lead down to 3 before the Tornadoes came back to life dropping 4 treys on the quarter and building the lead to 51-34 as they limited the Bulldogs to just 8 points on the quarter. They would then cruise to victory in the 4th winning 62-45.

The Tornadoes went 25/55 on the game and 5/9 from the line. They were led in scoring by all around leading scorer Beau Thorpe with 14 (5/12 FG, 3/3 FT). Eddie Garza also had double digits with 12 (4/12 FG, 3/6 FT) and Chris Titus, the Bank North Player of the Game, had 10 (4/9 FG). The Bulldogs were led by James Throener who had 11 (5/12 FG).

The Tornadoes are now 6-0 in District 1 play and will clinch the #1 spot in the District with a win against either Maple River on Thursday or Enderlin on Saturday.

The game in Tower City on Thursday can be heard on KDDR The Tornado with pregame at 6:45 pm and tip off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
