PORTLAND (NewsDakota)- It will be a Region II game next season, and if Tuesday night was a preview, it’s bound to be fun going forward.
In a game that saw eleven ties and fourteen lead changes, the seventh-ranked May Port-CG Patriots got 25 points from Kiaza Carlson and clutch shooting from Jordyn Carpenter in a 63-58 overtime win over the Cardinals.
Carrington (15-4) started very well offensively, racing to a 19-16 first quarter lead. But that pace ended and the Cardinals only made one field goal in the second as they trailed 25-23.
The second half was tic-for-tac as the entire game was played in an eleven point window before free throws late forced overtime. But in the extra session, Carpenter hit a three and buried three free throws as the Patriots (15-4) wrapped up their regular season with a win.
The Cardinals are next in action on Friday night on the road at second-ranked Valley City with coverage on Q101 beginning at 6:45 PM.
