Norbert “Sam” Eugene Tombarge passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, in Kalispell, MT, surrounded by family. Born on August 16, 1934, in Dazey, North Dakota, he was the third of six children of William and Gladys Tombarge.

Norbert grew up and attended school in Dazey. After graduating high school, he moved to Minneapolis, where he met the love of his life, Beverly. They married on September 15, 1956, and shortly after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving for two years. Upon his return, he completed his education and built a career as an electronics technician and an electrician.

Norbert was a man of many talents, with a natural ability to master whatever he set his mind to. He dedicated a large part of his life working for The Boeing Company, contributing to the Minuteman Missile program. In 1978, he settled in Kalispell, where he raised his family and operated a small business. In 1988, he relocated to Seattle to continue his career at Boeing, working as an electrician. After retiring in 1997, Norbert and Beverly returned to Kalispell to be closer to their children.

Norbert, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, was known for his kindness, quick wit, and knack for fixing anything. He greeted everyone warmly, shared kind words, and never took life for granted. His humor brought joy to those around him, and he found fulfillment in helping others, whether with home or auto repairs or fixing his grandchildren’s favorite toys.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, and watching wildlife. He embraced every moment of being a grandpa—celebrating milestones, attending events, sharing words of wisdom, and simply cherishing time with his family. His greatest joy was his wife of 68 years, Beverly, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

Norbert is survived by Beverly; his children, Reed (Jodi) Tombarge of Vaughn, MT, Wendy (Jody) Jeschke of Kalispell, MT, and Cory Tombarge of Kalispell, MT; ten grandchildren (Amanda, Alyssa, Hayden, Kendra, Preston, Emmett, Skyler, Mackenzie, Dakota, and Noah); brothers Ken (Jeanne) Tombarge of Washington and Carl (Pam) Tombarge of North Dakota; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Clarence, and his sister, Kathy.

A service to honor Norbert’s life will be held on February 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 329 Second Ave. E., Kalispell. A reception will follow, and interment will take place at Conrad Memorial Cemetery. The Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is assisting the family.
