LISBON, N.D. – From the opening tip, the Valley City Hi-Liners never allowed Lisbon to find its footing, cruising to a 64-24 victory on Tuesday night.
The Hi-Liners exploded for a 26-5 first-quarter lead behind a balanced attack from Dacota Potratz, Katie Burchill, and Maddie Anderson, each scoring at least seven points. Meanwhile, the Broncos struggled offensively, failing to reach double digits in three of the four quarters.
Valley City extended its lead to 37 points by halftime, with Skye Nielson pouring in 11 second-quarter points. Potratz and Kinlee Sufficool also contributed baskets, while Lisbon’s lone bright spot was a perfect 4-for-4 performance from the free-throw line as they trailed 46-9 at the break.
Midway through the third quarter, the Hi-Liners pulled their starters, having already secured the game. Nielson led all scorers with 17 points, while Potratz, Burchill, and Anderson also reached double figures. Lisbon was led by Brynn Wilste and Jaida Kunze, who finished with six points each.
Valley City returns to action on Monday, Feb. 10, when they host Central Cass, looking to move one step closer to securing the Region 1 regular-season title.
