
WEST FARGO – Three second period goals put the game away for the West Fargo Packers in a 6-2 boys’ hockey win Monday at the West Fargo Sports Arena. This ended the Jamestown Blue Jays’ four-game winning streak.
Zach Kasin scored 28 seconds into the first period for a quick lead for West Fargo (12-4-1-1), and that 1-0 lead held through the first period.
In just 2:34 in the midway part of the second period, West Fargo decided the game with three goals. Ian Skari scored shorthanded at 7:28, Bryce Mattern followed with a power play goal at 9:19 and Ashton Wigestrand made the advantage 4-0 at 10:02.
Vaughn Romsdal scored the first goal for Jamestown (11-5-1-1) on the power play with 33 seconds remaining in the second period.
Mattern scored a power play goal and Skari also tallied in the third period for West Fargo, who had a dominating 47-18 shot advantage. Grant Lunde scored with 2:53 left for the other JHS goal.
The Blue Jays will return to WDA play Thursday against Century at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck.
