VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Valley City’s (District 130) Street Improvement project was successfully protested by affected property owners last month.

Under the plan, approximately 10 city blocks would be fully and or partially reconstructed at a cost of $9.8 million.

Valley City property owners said they also don’t want to see sidewalks replaced that have useful life remaining. The property owners say they’re looking for fiscal responsibility and transparency from the city of Valley City.

City Administrator Gwen Crawford talked about the next steps the city will take in this process.

She said if the street improvement project is approved after the next protest period, the plan is to complete the project over a two-year period.

The estimated protest period it tentatively set for this spring with another notification going out to affected property owners later this month or in March.
