VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City has entered into contracts for a new Public Works Service Center.

City Administrator Gwen Crawford said the city approved those contracts for engineering design and architectural work last year. EAPC Architects & Engineers and McGough Construction were selected to guide the construction project. Following several meetings, the City Commission approved up to $15 million for the project.

Crawford said the estimated cost of this project will be determined in the first week of February. She says bids have been solicited for the pre-engineered metal building portion of the project to help identify costs and stay on schedule.
A construction contract has yet to be approved and bids will be let later this year for this project.

Crawford said Lance Peterson was award the bid to remove the existing two structures, the former Valley Plains dealership on East Main. Once both buildings are removed the city will proceed forward building a news Public Works Service Center at that location.

Crawford said the site received approval for construction after some Valley City residents raised concern about an environmental issue that maybe associated with that site. She said the city conducted underground testing to determined if a bio-hazard existing below the surface. She said nothing was found to stop the project from moving forward.

Everything currently in Pole Shed will be moved to new location
