JAMESTOWN – A win for Jamestown Blue Jay Girls Hockey would have been most useful in their push to try to make the postseason.  But a shootout went the way of the team currently in the last playoff position.

Anika Astrup and Sophia Rerick scored in the shootout Tuesday as Fargo Davies edged Jamestown 2-1 at Wilson Arena.

Astrup scored in the first round against Blue Jay goalie Ady Bakalar, followed by Jamestown’s Grace Allmaras missing facing Eagle netminder Megan Suppes.  Lauren Graveline for Davies and Ellie Krueger for Jamestown both missed in the second round before Rerick clinched the game.

Krueger had given Jamestown (4-13-0-1, 3-13-0-1 League) the lead at 9:05 of the second period.  Astrup tied the game for Davies (6-9-1-1, 5-9-1-1) with 3:34 remaining in the third period.

Bakalar made 25 stops.  Jamestown had 33 shots to Davies’ 26.

With five games left in the regular season, the Blue Jays are eight points behind Davies for the eighth and last playoff spot.

The next four games for Jamestown will be on the road, starting Thursday at Mandan.
