Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Burros of Hillsboro-CV outscored Carrington 25-11 in the third quarter and went on to a 56-45 win. The Burros jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opening quarter and the Cardinals didn’t score until the 1:45 on a free throw from Grady Idland. The Cards trailed 12-5 after the opening quarter. The second quarter had the Cards out scoring the Burros 12-10 and trailed by 5 points at halftime 22-17. Josh Bickett connected on the only made three pointer of the first half in the final10 seconds cutting the Burro lead to 20-17, but Alex Dufner made a layup with 2 seconds in the half giving the Burros the 5 point lead. Bickett ended the night with a game high 18 points including 3-3 pointers. The Burros had 4 players in double figures paced by Dufner with 14 points, Chase Haffely 13, Tyson Leshuk 11, and Bryce Miller with 10. The Burros built a 22 point lead during the third quarter at 47-25 and were not threatened after that.
Maddox McIlonie added 11 points for the Cards. H-CV improved to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in class A region 2 play and the Cards dropped to 9-4 overall and 0-2 in region play. The Cards will host Northern Cass on Friday night at 7:00 P.M. with action on Thunder 98.3 and www.newsdakota.com
