MINOT – The effort remains for Jamestown Blue Jay Boys Basketball, but mistakes keep happening.
Turnovers plagued Jamestown Tuesday in a 76-64 loss at Minot North to keep the Blue Jays winless. They are 0-10 overall and 0-8 in WDA play.
22 turnovers and several close missed shots hurt the Jays, despite 33 points from leading scorer Thomas Newman and 16 points and 11 rebounds from Jaxon Kolpin.
Kaiden Helm hit four three-pointers in the first half and led Minot North (4-8, 2-7) with 23 points in the Sentinels’ first varsity boys basketball game with the Blue Jays. Tamari Carter had 14 points and five rebounds. Josia Jaquinet also scored 14.
Jamestown led 10-5 early before Minot North took charge of the game with a 19-2 run and led 42-31 at halftime.
After the Sentinels scored the first four points of the second half to lead 46-31, Jamestown used a 15-6 run to move within six, but the Blue Jays came no closer.
Jamestown lost despite shooting 50 percent from the floor. Minot North was at 52 percent.
The Blue Jays will host Dickinson in a doubleheader Friday at Jerry Meyer Arena.
