CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- The challenge for the Cardinal girls on Tuesday night was a unique one, an offense-first team with a future college basketball player on it.  And the third-ranked team in Class A passed with flying colors.

Freshman Aniston Hornaert scored a career-high 16 points and Carrington won their eighth consecutive game with a 55-38 win over Northern Cass inside the East Gym on Tuesday evening.

The Jaguars (6-7) got off to a good start behind future University of Jamestown guard Haidyn Crockett, who scored four early points and Northern Cass led 8-3.  But a 9-0 run for Carrington gave them a lead they would never relinquish as the Jaguars were held to a season-low in points.

Freshman Maara Kutz scored eight of her ten points in the first half as the Cardinals led by as many as 19 points in improving to 12-1, the best start for the program since a 15-0 start to the 2016-17 season.  Crockett finished with 21 for the Jaguars.

Carrington dive back into Region II play on Thursday night by traveling to take on the Grafton Spoilers.  Coverage on Thunder 98.3 begins at 6:45 PM.
