JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Blue Jay Boys Hockey awaited the challenge of the state’s top team. But Minot showed why they are, indeed, the top team.
Coen Schmeichel and Rylan Roteliuk each scored twice Friday as Minot remained unbeaten with an 8-2 win over Jamestown at Wilson Arena.
Schmeichel scored at 1:14 and then again at 5:33 of the first period and Minot (15-0-0-0, 10-0-0-0 West) had an early 2-0 lead. Bennett Goehner put Jamestown (7-4-1-1, 6-4-1-1) on the board at 13:01, but Carter Coleman answered at 15:12 and the Magicians led 3-1 after the first period.
Roteliuk scored his goals in the second period at 1:30 and 6:33. Easton Panasuk then tallied at 8:07 and Minot controlled the game 6-1 after two periods.
Tate Haugenoe (9:49) and Mackley Morelli (11:42) scored in the third period for Minot. Jackson Maddock scored the other Blue Jay goal with 29 seconds remaining.
