JAMESTOWN – University of Jamestown Basketball had a big NSAA basketball sweep Friday, but the way the teams got there was different.
The UJ women had to rally in the fourth quarter for a 73-65 win over Bellevue at Harold Newman Arena. Jamestown’s men opened up a double-digit lead in the first half and cruised to a 78-62 victory.

Leading scorer Kate Cordes hit a clutch three-pointer, her fifth of the game, with 1:31 remaining and led the Jimmies (13-2, 3-1 NSAA) with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists. The big shot gave UJ a 69-61 lead. Jamestown outscored Bellevue (10-6, 2-2) 24-14 in the fourth quarter. Jamestown had a 10-point lead in the first half before Bellevue came back.
Hannah Hagel scored 11 with five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Jayden Wiest scored nine.
Ashtyn Arnold led four double-figure scorers for Bellevue with 17 points. Gabby Moore had 14. Kaylee Denker and Zakiyyah Muhammad each tallied 12.
Three-point shooting helped make the difference in this game. UJ was 10-of-20 on treys while Bellevue was six-of-20. Overall, the Jimmies shot 51 percent and the Bruins were held to 42 percent.
Men: Jamestown 78, Bellevue 62
For the second straight game, Jamestown (7-7, 3-1 NSAA) used a hot-shooting first half to lead to a win. Jamestown shot 58 percent in the first 20 minutes and 51 percent for the game. Included were 12-of-27 three-pointers.
Anthony Walters hit five three-pointers and paced the Jimmies with 17 points. Owen Hektner scored 16 with two threes. Silas Bennion scored 14. Jimmy Llinas was held to three points, but had nine rebounds and a career-high five steals.
RJ Smith scored 15 with seven rebounds for Bellevue (10-7, 2-2).
Leading 12-10 just over six minutes into the game, Jamestown then used a 30-14 run to balloon the lead to 18 points and led 42-25 at halftime. The Jimmies then scored the first 14 points of the second half to take a game-high 31-point lead.
