VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A decade ago, the North Dakota legislature passed a law allowing the sale of fireworks from the day after Christmas through New Year’s according to the North Dakota Century Code (NDCC) C.H. 23-15.
Fire Chief Scott Magnuson said the discharge of fireworks is legal from December 31st to January 1st at 1am in Valley City. But the discharge of fireworks is prohibited from December 26th through December 30th in the city of Valley City.
The detonation or explosion of bottle rockets or roman candles is prohibited under North Dakota law. Under the law, fireworks can be sold to any North Dakota resident over the age of 12.
