MINOT – Adversity has hit this season’s Jamestown Blue Jay boys’ hockey team.

After taking two straight close losses, Jamestown was blitzed Saturday by Minot as Rylan Roteliuk scored four goals and Mackley Morelli notched three in a 9-2 Magicians win at MAYSA Arena.

Easton Panasuk, Aidan Diehl and Teegan Strand each had three assists for Minot (6-0-0-0, 6-0-0-0 West), who scored nine for the second time in three games.

Jackson Maddox and Nate Walz scored for Jamestown (4-2-0-1, 4-2-0-1).

A Morelli power play goal at 2:01 of the first period gave Minot a quick lead.  Cade Erhart scored at 7:25, then Roteliuk scored a shorthanded goal at 12:47 for a 3-0 Magician lead.  Maddox, assisted by John Belzer, gave Jamestown its first tally at 14:07, but Paxton Packulak scored for Minot only 50 seconds later.  59 seconds after that, Roteliuk scored his second and Minot led 5-1 after one period.

A Morelli goal at 8:39 of the second period was followed by Roteliuk’s third at 11:08.  Walz scored for Jamestown at 11:30, set up by Parker Roelfsma.  But Minot scored twice more in the second, on Morelli’s third goal at 14:28 and the fourth by Roteliuk at 15:15.

Leif Hanson made 31 saves for the Blue Jays, who were outshot 40-13.
