MANDAN – The challenges continued for Jamestown Blue Jays Basketball on Friday, and again, the opponent won out.
Mandan swept Jamestown in a WDA basketball doubleheader at Mandan High School’s Starion Bank Gymnasium, with the Braves girls defeating the Blue Jays 66-28 and the Mandan boys taking an 84-56 win.
Girls: Mandan 66, Jamestown 28
Jamestown (2-3, 0-2 WDA) was held to only three field goals in the first half as Mandan dominated, leading 37-8 at the break.
Kimimilla McAllister scored 18, all in the first half, for Mandan (4-0, 2-0). McKenna Johnson scored eight points.
Milan Martin led Jamestown with eight points and hit two three-pointers. Mea Ulland hit two three-pointers for her six points.
Boys: Mandan 84, Jamestown 56
Hudson Sheldon dominated for Mandan (4-0, 2-0), scoring 30, mostly in the paint. Mandan took advantage of 18 first-half turnovers by Jamestown and led by as many as 38 points. Brylee Bearstail scored 14.
Thomas Newman led Jamestown (0-4, 0-4) with 21 points. Newman has averaged 27.5 points in the season’s first four games.
Jamestown will play St. Mary’s in Bismarck on Friday, January 3.
