VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – St. Catherine School is pleased to announce that its Board of Education has recommended pursuing a school-owned and operated daycare model to address the growing childcare needs in our community. While this recommendation marks a significant step forward, plans are still tentative. Ensuring the feasibility of this initiative and its complete alignment with St. Catherine School’s mission and values remains our top priority.
A comprehensive business and operations plan is being developed, with a target completion date of February 1, 2025. This plan will encompass staffing requirements, licensing considerations, and operational details. Concurrently, efforts are underway to secure the necessary initial funding.
If these critical milestones are achieved, the anticipated opening date for the daycare is June 1, 2025. However, the final decision to proceed will depend on thorough evaluations of financial sustainability, stakeholder feedback, and alignment with our school’s mission.
“We are exploring this daycare model because it has the potential to serve families in our community while strengthening St. Catherine School’s role as a faith-centered institution,” said Principal Nicholas Lee. “That being said, this is not necessarily our final direction. Ensuring feasibility and alignment with our mission remains our utmost priority.”
As the process unfolds, St. Catherine School will continue to engage key stakeholders, including the Parish Finance Council, Parish Council, and the Board of Education, to assess risks and benefits and obtain necessary approvals. Updates on the initiative will be shared as progress is made.
