(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team has one game left where they will either punch a ticket to the Class B Regional Basketball Tournament, or see their season come to an end, as they go up against the Sargent Central Cadets in Wapheton on Monday evening as part of the final night of the Class B District 1 Basketball tournament.

Oakes has made it to Monday after falling to the Hankinson Pirates on Friday night in the opening round by a score of 69-36, and then coming back from 17 points down to defeat the North Sargent Bobcats 64-62 in overtime. The Cadets were defeated in round one on Thursday 55-37 by Wyndmere/Lidgerwood, but won Saturday 63-51 against Lisbon.

Earlier this season, the Cadets were victorious in Oakes 65-57 on January 18. Justin Arp lead all scorers with 34 points, although the Tornadoes did finish strong, outscoring the Cadets 23-15 in the final eight minutes.

The other two games in the tournament left to be played are another regional qualifier between Hankinson and Lisbon, and the Championship game featuring Milnor and Wyndmere/Lidgerwood; with the Bison and Warbirds already in the Regional tournament.

Coverage of Oakes/Sargent Central is set for approximately 6:15 p.m. Monday night, weather permitting, on KDDR 1220 AM/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com
