Erv Sahr, 82, went home to be with his God on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Erv was born November 18, 1942, in Jamestown, ND. The son of Ervin L. and Rachel (Wood) Sahr. He grew up on the family farm south of town, often sheering sheep and custom haying with his brothers. He graduated from Jamestown High School and then went on to serve in the National Guard. He retired as a First Sergeant after 22 years of service. After high school he had several short-term jobs including baking at Cox Bakery and operating a cutting torch to dismantle MDU stations for West End Hide & Fur. Erv owned and operated Four Way Honda in Oakes with his brother Harold before moving on to his career with Otter Tail Power Company. While working for Otter Tail, he began as a lineman in Lisbon and Jamestown before moving into marketing for the Crookston and Jamestown locations, thus finishing out his 40-year tenure with the company.

He was married to Marge Bitterman, and they had three children, Craig, David and Cindy. In 1999, he married Eunice (Hauck) Sahr and currently lived west of Jamestown.

Erv was a valued member of his community as he was greatly invested in and had a love for people. He was a Boy Scout Master in Lisbon and Jamestown, a volunteer Fireman for the Lisbon Fire Department, a member of the Jamestown Sertoma Club, and Trustee of Victory Lutheran Church. An example of his generosity includes his dedication each year, to take the lead in preparing and serving the turkeys for the Vicoty Church Christmas Community Dinner.  He was President and Charter member of the Jamestown Classic Tractor Club and served as Vice President of Central North Dakota Stream Threshers Reunion (New Rockford). He was also a lifetime member of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion (Rollag, MN).

Erv enjoyed tinkering in his shop, maintaining his old tractors, deer hunting with his family and camping with family and friends. He was so proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended their activities whenever possible.

Erv is survived by his wife, Eunice, children Craig (MiMi) Sahr, Colorado Springs, Co.; David (Jess) Sahr, Fargo, ND; Cindy Soulis, Fargo, ND.
