Kenneth Ray Simmons, 68, Valley City, North Dakota passed away at his home, Friday,
December 13, 2024. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 pm,
Wednesday, December 18 at Fairview Cemetery, Sanborn, North Dakota.
Ken was born in California on October 6, 1956, to William Lee Neal and Vallie Delphine
(Komrosky) Neal. He took his stepfather Bobby Ray Simmon’s name in 1959. Ken lived
an adventurous life living in California, Nevada, Montana, Minnesota, Hawaii and
Arizonia. He finally made his home in Valley City for the last 34 years. Ken was most
known in Valley City for the years he served others through Faith in Action and his
several donations to Locks of Love.
Ken joined the United States Marine Corps in Minnesota at the age of 18. He attended
Boot Camp at MCB Camp Pendelton, California. While in the service he trained in
hand-to-hand combat battle and held the record for 10 years.
He married Sandy in Arizona and divorced after two years. Together they had one son
Cody and stepdaughter Tonja.
Ken is survived by sister Jackie; brother Harry; half-sister Suzanne; sister-in-law Bev;
nephews Troy, Jay, Matt, Chad, Joseph, Joshua, Jacob; niece Kayla and their families.
He is also survived by special aunts and uncles Deb and Rick, Bonnie and Terry and
Stanley, close friends Herman and Bob along with many other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father and stepfather and his brothers Ronald,
Daniel, Richard and sister Rebecca.
