GRAND FORKS – Jamestown Blue Jay wrestlers generally had a tough weekend at the G.F. Sertoma Invitational and Duals, which concluded Saturday at Central High School.

One bright spot, though, was 124-pound girls wrestler Kaydence Golding.  She continued her excellent season to this point with an individual title.  Golding pinned all four opponents she faced, including Marlie Stremick of Pembina County North in the championship match.

The Blue Jay boys lost all four of their duals in the event.  Thief River Falls (MN) topped Jamestown 68-5, followed by a 64-10 win by Stewartville (MN).  Jamestown came closest in the consolation quarterfinal, losing 40-36 to Grand Forks Red River.  Pins in the last two matches rallied the Roughriders from a 36-28 deficit to win.  Turtle Mountain then dominated the Blue Jays in a 63-9 victory.

Next for the Jays will be the Valley City Holiday Tournament, with the girls competing on Friday and the boys on Saturday on the weekend before Christmas.
