MINOT – “Not again!” the Jimmies may have said.
Despite two first period goals by Kole Christensson, University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey took its third loss of the season to Minot State, falling 4-2 to the Beavers Saturday at All Seasons Arena at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.
Overall, the Jimmies are 15-4, but have been outscored 13-4 in their losses to Minot State (16-2).
Christensson now has six goals and put in a power play tally at 11:17 of the first period, assisted by Kaelan Shelton and Alex Erichuk. With 1:16 left in the frame, Christensson scored again, set up by Carter Johnson.
Penalties by UJ turned the game around in the second period. Minot State received a five-minute power play when the Jimmies’ Guerin Apperley was given a major and a game misconduct for grabbing a face mask. The Beavers scored twice on that power play to tie the game on goals by Jay Buchholz and Colby Joseph. With 3:17 left in the middle period, Reid Arnold scored another power play goal to put MSU ahead 3-2.
Arnold scored again with 4:09 left.
Brandon Weare made 22 saves for the Jimmies. Jamestown outshot Minot State 29-26.
UJ will play the University of Mary on Friday night in Bismarck.
