VALLEY CITY, ND  (VCSUVikings.com)  VCSU Viking football had seven players named to the North Star Athletic Association All-Conference Teams announced Monday by the conference office.

Emanuel Spiyee was named to First Team Defense, while TaQuez Chatman and Levi Olson were named to Second Team Defense.

Avery ThorsgardBryce Prouty, and Jake Deutsch were named Second Team Offense. Exavian Westbrook was named Second Team Specialists.

Sophomore defensive back Spiyee earned First Team All-Conference honors for the first time in his career after a season featuring 33 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and three pass breakups. In his freshman year he earned Second Team All-Conference honors.

Chatman, a junior on the defensive line, recorded a career high 43 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sack, along with one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Chatman received Second Team All-Conference honors for the first time in his career.

Olson, a sophomore playing at linebacker had 64 tackles including a 13 tackle, eight solo, and 5 assisted, performance against Dickinson State. He recorded 3.5 tackles for loss and two pass breakups. He earns Second Team All-Conference.

Senior quarterback Thorsgard, earning Second Team All-Conference, completed 55/89 passes good for 450 yards and one touchdown this season. He rushed the ball 128 times for career-high 585 yards and three touchdowns. Thorsgard ranked third in the conference in rushing yards this season.

Prouty, a sophomore, led the offensive line at center where he helped the Vikings rush for 1,093 yards, ranking second in the conference. He earns Second Team All-Conference for the first time in his career.

Sophomore wide receiver Deutsch earns Second Team All-Conference for the first time in his career. This season Deutsch made 30 catches for 385 yards and two touchdowns. He recorded career highs in receptions, touchdowns, and yards this season.

Jonah Larson (offensive line), Trent Finney (tight end), Loke Iese (linebacker) and Gavin Gerhardt (defensive back) received Honorable Mention All-Conference, and quarterback Avery Thorsgard was named VCSU’s Champion of Character representative.

Valley City State finished the 2024 season with a 3-7 overall record and a 2-6 mark in the North Star Athletic Association.
