ROMEOVILLE, IL – UNLV scored twice in 45 seconds Friday for a 2-1 ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey win over Jamestown in the first of three games for the Jimmies at the Chicago Showcase at the Canlan Ice Sports Arena.
All the scoring in the game came in the first period. Second-ranked Jamestown (13-2-0-0) scored first, by Matthew McIntyre’s fifth goal, assisted by Chase Visser and Griffin Bourassa, at 12:57. The fifth-ranked Rebels (11-3-0-0) evened the game at 15:02 on a powerplay goal by Bradley Golant, then took the lead at 15:47 with a Heath Mensch goal.
Brandon Weare made 26 saves for Jamestown, who was outshot by UNLV 28-26.
On Saturday, UJ will play Michigan-Dearborn.
