FARGO – A win for Jamestown Blue Jay Volleyball at the state tournament proved to be elusive.
Jamestown lost a 2-1 set lead Saturday and lost to the Horace Hawks 25-15, 20-25, 17-25, 21-25, 15-9 in the seventh-place match of the NDHSAA Class A State Volleyball Championship at the Fargodome.
Horace (25-12) rallied from a fourth set deficit to even the match and then rallied from 6-0 down to win the deciding fifth set. Kendall Mueller had 15 kills for the Hawks, five aces, one-half block, a set assist and 14 digs. Jordan Christofferson had 10 kills and four digs.
Lucy Falk, who was named to the all-tournament team, had 19 kills and a dig for Jamestown (21-20). Leah Trumbauer had 13 kills, two aces, a set assist and 10 digs. Edie Hegerle had 19 digs and 39 set assists.
