N.D.–According to the Jamestown Police Department, at 1:25 p.m. officers were dispatched to the South Central Human Service Center for an out of control client.  The female client that was threatening suicide fled the center, jumped into the river and began swimming downstream.  Officers attempted to talk her out of the river as she swam south.  She would not respond to their requests to leave the river.  The Jamestown Fire Department Rescue Squad was paged out.  They were requested to put a boat in the water where the two rivers meet in Klaus Park.  They did put a boat in to assist.  As the woman reached the east side of Klaus Park, a 29 year old law enforcement officer assigned to the drug task force dove into the river and pulled the woman to shore.  The 41 year old female was taken into custody and released to mental health personnel.  The police department was assisted by the deputies from the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department and the Jamestown Fire Department Rescue squad.  No known injuries were reported.  The incident remains under investigation.
