VALLEY CITY, ND  (VCSUVikings.com)  The North Star Athletic Association announced their third installment (Nov. 11 through Nov. 17) of the 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Players-of-the-Week Tuesday.  Valley City State (N.D.) swept the weekly honors as Lamar Grayson was selected as the Offensive Player-of-the-Week, while his teammate Awga Nywesh was chosen as the Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

North Star Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week – Offense
Lamar Grayson – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’0″ – Senior – guard – Richfield, Minn. – Grayson paced Valley City State (N.D.) to a 1-1 record on the week.  He scored a career-high 29 points on his 12-of-18 field goals in an 89-71 win over Viterbo (Wis.), extending the Vikings to their six-game winning streak.  He added 18 points (7-of-14 field goals) in VCSU’s 89-67 setback to St. Francis (Ill.).  For the week, Grayson averaged 23.5 points per game, shot 59.4 percent from the field (19-of-32 field goals), and added nine rebounds (4.5 rebounds per game), four assists (2.0 assists per game), and six steals (3.0 steals per game).

North Star Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week – Defense
Awga Nywesh – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’4″ – Senior – guard – Austin, Minn. – Nywesh helped Valley City State (N.D.) to a 1-1 record on the week in the Viterbo (Wis.) Tournament (defeated host-team Viterbo and lost to St. Francis, Ill.).  He registered two blocks in both games (2.0 blocks per game for the week) and averaged 1.5 steals per game.
