JAMESTOWN – In their home opener, Jamestown Jimmie Women’s Basketball looked sharp against a future NSIC foe.
Hannah Hagel scored 14 points with seven rebounds in just over 17 minutes Tuesday as Jamestown dropped Minot State 81-64 at Harold Newman Arena.
Jamestown (4-1) shot 46 percent overall from the field and hit 11-of-23 three-pointers.
Kate Busek scored 13 with six rebounds. Kate Cordes added 12. 13 different players scored for the Jimmies, who played everyone in uniform.
Sydney Gustavsson led all scorers with 17 points for Minot State (1-4). Lara Dobbins tallied 13.
Busek had two three-pointers and eight points in the first quarter for Jamestown, who led 20-15 after 10 minutes.
UJ pulled away with a 16-4 run in the last 6:18 of the first quarter to take a 41-25 halftime lead. Cordes had 10 points in the first half, including a jumper just before the buzzer.
Hagel scored 10 points in the third quarter as Jamestown led 58-39 after three quarters, then emptied their bench in the fourth quarter.
Jamestown had a 47-32 rebounding advantage.
The Jimmies will next play on Saturday, November 30 against Midland at Harold Newman Arena.
