MINOT – Number two was number one, at least for one night.
Colby Joseph and Joey Moffatt each scored twice Tuesday as second ranked Minot State swamped top-ranked Jamestown 6-1 in ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey at Maysa Arena.
The Beavers (11-1) used a Christian Kadolph powerplay goal to take the lead at 4:52 of the first period, followed by the first of two goals by Joseph.
Darius Makse scored his sixth, assisted by Zane MacDonald, for the only goal for Jamestown (13-1) at 7:45 of the second period.
Walker Jerome gave Minot State another two-goal lead with a tally at 11:13 of the middle period.
Joseph scored again for MSU at 9:48 of the third and Moffatt scored his two goals 38 seconds apart later in the period, both with a powerplay.
Brandon Weare made 33 saves in net for the Jimmies. Minot State had a 39-27 shot advantage.
Next for the Jimmies will be UNLV on Friday, November 22 in the first of three games at the Chicago Classic in Romeoville, Illinois.
