JAMESTOWN – It wasn’t a match in which the Jamestown Blue Jays necessarily wanted to play, but they came through.

For the fourth time this season, Jamestown defeated St. Mary’s, this time in the West Region play-in match, 25-14, 25-23, 25-21 at Jerry Meyer Arena.

After trailing St. Mary’s 5-2 in the first set, Jamestown (19-16) pulled away to a double-digit lead as Leah Trumbauer and Lucy Falk had big kills.

Jamestown was up 18-16 and 24-19 in the second set before holding off St. Mary’s.

Falk had a kill to end the match and close a tight third set.

Trumbauer had 11 kills and six digs.  Mari Anderson had 10 kills.  Falk had eight kills.  Jetta Peterson had 19 digs.  Aunika Moser had 12 digs, and Amelia Newman and Edie Hegerle had 10 each.

The Blue Jays will play Thursday, November 14 in the quarterfinal round of the West Region tournament against second seed Bismarck at Minot High School.  Coverage will begin at around 4:45 PM on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
