CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota School Counselors Association awarded Judi Hillier the counselor at Jefferson Elementary School in Valley City, the North Dakota Elementary School Counselor of the Year Award.  Hillier implemented programs at Washington and Jefferson Schools, which include organizing the first 5th and 6th Grade Career Fair and Kindness Week activities.  Most recently at Jefferson, Judi organized the Third Grade Test Tip Pep Rally, Honoring Children Military Program and the Autism Awareness Classroom activities.

Troy Miller, principal at Jefferson Elementary nominated Hillier for this award.  “I have found Mrs. Hillier to be a very dedicated school counselor.” “She goes above and beyond the general requirements of her job.” “She readily accepts the challenges of working with all students and staff.” “She genuinely cares about their thoughts, concerns, and feelings.”  “Judi has exemplified the qualities that a counselor should possess.”

The North Dakota School Counselors Association would like congratulate Judi Hillier and extend their gratitude to the Valley City community for their support of Mrs. Hillier and the School Counseling Program.

And Washington Elementary Principal Wayne Denault received the Region 6 “North Dakota Principal of the Year” award recently.

Denault thanked the Washington Elementary staff, students and parents for their support during his 14 year tenure as principal.
