JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Regional Airport celebrated the completion of its summer runway rehabilitation project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday evening, highlighting infrastructure improvements intended to enhance flight operations.

The $4 million runway overhaul, funded primarily through a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant covering 90% of the costs and a North Dakota Aeronautics Commission grant for another 5%, focused on a mill and overlay process, as well as crack and joint repairs on the concrete. The airport’s local share amounted to just 5% of the overall project cost.

Border States Paving, the primary contractor, completed the rehabilitation ahead of schedule this summer.

The airport also completed an airfield electrical project, which includes transitioning all lights and signs to LED fixtures, upgrading electrical wiring, and installing new regulators. This modernization is expected to reduce electricity and maintenance costs.

This rehabilitation marks the first major overhaul since 2005, aimed at ensuring long-term operational safety and efficiency at Jamestown Regional Airport.
