BISMARCK – Jamestown Blue Jay Volleyball closed its regular season by running into one of the state’s best teams and not coming out well.

Bismarck Century wrapped up the 2024 WDA regular season title Tuesday with a 25-13, 25-18, 25-11 win over Jamestown at Olsen Gym.

Century (30-4, 21-1 WDA) blasted 38 kills, including 11 from Sylvia Taylor, who also had one and a half blocks.  Cadynce DeWitz had eight kills.  Holland Fitterer had 15 digs, with 14 from Atrianna Backman.  Jocelyn Kilber had 18 assists.

Mari Anderson led Jamestown (18-16, 10-12) with six kills.  Lucy Falk had five.

Century was up just 13-12 in the first set when the Patriots scored 11 straight points.  Hope Bauman had three aces and Taylor had two.

The Blue Jays had the second set even at 15-15, but Century then had 10 of the last 13 points.  Madison Wolf had two kills in the run.

Century led 8-6 in the final set before a 17-5 run ended the match.

Century will be the top seed in the West Region tournament and play in the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 14 in Minot.

Jamestown, the seventh seed, must play in a play-in match on Thursday at 6:00 PM against 10th seed St. Mary’s at Jerry Meyer Arena.  The winner will face second seed Bismarck in the West Region tournament quarterfinal.

The Blue Jays swept their two conference matches with the Saints, winning in Bismarck in four sets on September 3 and at Jerry Meyer Arena in five sets on October 15.
