BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Republican Julie Fedorchak has won election to North Dakota’s U.S. House seat, defeating Democrat Trygve Hammer.
Fedorchak, a longtime public utilities regulator, will succeed Republican Kelly Armstrong, who vacated the seat to run for governor. Fedorchak secured the seat after winning a five-person Republican primary in June.
With all precincts reporting, Fedorchak received 1,614 votes, or 77.26%, compared to Hammer’s 475 votes, or 22.74%. The race marked a transition for the state’s congressional representation, as Armstrong, who served three terms, did not seek re-election.
Fedorchak will represent North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives starting in January.
