BISMARCK – Jamestown Jimmies won two of the three NSAA Football Player of the Week awards. Running back Zach Hammett was named as the Offensive Player of the Week. Linebacker Ezra Belingheri, for the second straight week, earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor.
In the Jimmies’ 21-14 win at Mayville State, Hammett rushed 17 times for a career-high 116 yards and scored a touchdown for the fourth straight game. His three-yard touchdown to end the opening drive of the second half gave UJ a 14-0 lead.
Hammett became the first Jamestown running back to rush for over 100 yards in a game since October 5, 2019, when Allen Jenving rushed for 108 yards in a 13-10 Jamestown overtime win over Concordia (NE) at Hansen Stadium.
Belingheri had his second touchdown in as many weeks, taking an interception 39 yards for a score in the second quarter for the game’s first points. Belingheri also forced a fumble, had a fumble recovery and had eight tackles (two and a half for losses).
