JAMESTOWN – Once again, many contributed, and once again, UJ ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey won.
Brad Fortin, Kaelan Shelton and Jordan Baranesky each had a goal and an assist Friday as fifth-ranked Jamestown dropped Illinois 5-1 at Wilson Arena.
Darius Makse opened the scoring for Jamestown (10-0) only 48 seconds into the game with his seventh goal of the season. Baranesky doubled the lead with his ninth goal at 4:36.
In the second, Anthony Varrassi scored for Illinois (7-4) at 16:26, but Shelton scored his fifth with 1:40 left in the middle period and the Jimmies led 3-1 after two.
Wyatt Johnson scored his first 3:02 into the third period and Fortin tallied his ninth with 7:06 to go for the game’s final goal.
Brandon Weare stopped 33 shots for the Jimmies in net. Jamestown outshot Illinois 48-34.
The Jimmies and Illini will again face off Saturday evening at 7:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
