JAMESTOWN – A red hot UJ ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey team has another win over a top 10 team.
Carter Johnson and Jordan Baranesky each scored twice Thursday in the fifth-ranked Jimmies’ 5-2 win over fourth-ranked Ohio University at Wilson Arena.
Baranesky started the scoring at 4:55 of the first period, but Alex Mazzuca tied the game for the Bobcats midway through the opening frame.
Johnson’s first of the year, on the powerplay, with 31 seconds remaining in the first period, gave Jamestown (9-0-0) a 2-1 lead.
Luc Reeve evened the game for Ohio 7:31 into the second period. Johnson scored on a penalty shot with 5:33 left in the second and Jamestown led 3-2.
Brad Fortin popped in a shorthanded goal, his eighth, at 4:15 in the third period and Baranesky’s second of the game and eighth of the campaign at 13:31 closed the scoring.
Brandon Weare made 27 saves in net for the Jimmies, who had a 37-29 shot advantage over Ohio.
Jamestown will host Illinois on Friday and Saturday night, with both games starting at 7:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
