JAMESTOWN – On a night with plenty of emotion, the Jamestown Blue Jays rode it for a hard-fought win.

Jamestown Volleyball came from two-sets-to-one down Tuesday to defeat St. Mary’s 25-19, 25-27, 26-28, 25-17, 15-9 at Jerry Meyer Arena.

The Blue Jays (15-10, 7-6 WDA) scored the last seven points of the match after the fifth set was tied 8-8.  Edie Hegerle had a kill for a 10-8 lead, followed by a scoring block by Brooklyn Busch, a Leah Trumbauer kill that was set up by a free ball after an excellent Hegerle serve and a Haley Attleson kill and Jamestown led 13-10.  A St. Mary’s attack error led to match point, where Busch had a kill down the middle.

Lucy Falk led Jamestown’s attack with 16 kills.  Mari Anderson and Trumbauer each had 15.  Haley Attleson hit nine.  Trumbauer had 25 digs and Aunika Moser added 20.  Trumbauer also had two blocks.  Hegerle and Amelia Newman served three aces each.

Adding to the emotion for the Blue Jays was that Addison Marker appeared in a match for the first time this season.  Marker, a senior, suffered a broken back and other injuries this past summer when a drunk driver hit the car in which she was a passenger.  Marker was able to serve in a couple of rotations in the first set.

Jamestown will play Thursday at Watford City.
