WELLS COUNTY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A serious injury crash involving two vehicles occurred on Sunday at 7:36 p.m., on Highway 200 near mile marker 208, approximately 1.5 miles west of Skyeston.

According to the ND Highway Patrol, a 2019 Ford F-150, driven by Justin Bell, 36, of West Fargo, struck the rear of a 2004 Kenworth semi-truck pulling a grain trailer. The semi-truck, driven by Dustin Duda, 45, of Cathay, was attempting to make a right turn into a farmyard when the crash occurred. Bell’s vehicle failed to slow down and rear-ended the truck.

Bell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. He was first transported to Carrington Hospital and later airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that Bell has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under suspension.

Duda, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the crash. No charges have been filed against him.

The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, with assistance from the Wells County Sheriff’s Department, Skyeston Fire Department, and Carrington Ambulance.
