VALLEY CITY, N.D. (CCHD) – City-County Health District is proud to announce that Emma Tufte, the district’s Marketing Manager, has been accepted into the New to Public Health Residency Program through the University of Wisconsin. This competitive program is designed to build leadership skills and enhance public health competencies among emerging public health professionals across the nation. She is the first resident accepted from the state of North Dakota.
The New to Public Health Residency Program offers a unique opportunity for participants to gain hands-on experience and deepen their understanding of public health issues, particularly in rural and under served communities. Emma’s acceptance into this program highlights her dedication to advancing public health in our region.
“We are thrilled to see Emma recognized with this opportunity,” said Katie Beyer, Administrator for City-County Health District. “Her enthusiasm for health promotion and innovative approaches to community engagement make her an asset to our team and the region. We are confident that this residency will further enhance her skills and positively impact the services we provide to the residents of Barnes County.” As a resident, Emma will collaborate with other governmental public health professionals, focusing on developing solutions to current health challenges faced by rural communities.
“I am deeply honored to be part of the New to Public Health Residency Program,” said Emma Tufte. “This program will allow me to learn new strategies to better serve our community, particularly as we address the unique public health challenges faced in rural areas. I look forward to bringing these insights back to our district.”
Emma will begin her residency this fall and will continue her work with City-County Health District while actively participating in the program. Emma has served at the Health District since 2021. She is a graduate of the University of Jamestown and Valley City State University.
