GRAND FORKS – This time, overtime was a bad time for the Blue Jays.

Kamden Kooiman scored the winner in the seventh minute of extra time Friday as Bismarck Legacy advanced to the championship game for the second straight year with a 2-1 win over Jamestown in the semifinal round of the NDHSAA Boys State Soccer Championship at Cushman Field.

Jamestown had won their quarterfinal match in overtime Thursday against West Fargo Sheyenne.

The Blue Jays (17-1-0) fell behind for the second consecutive match when the Sabers’ Uriel Rivera scored in the 23rd minute.

Jackson Steele tied the game for Jamestown in the 39th minute, set up by Iddi Ramadhani.

Jamestown had a 15-9 shot advantage, but for Legacy (11-3-4), Liam Horner made 12 saves.  Grant Lunde made nine saves for JHS.

Jamestown will play for third place Saturday at 1:15 PM against Minot.  In the regular season, the Blue Jays topped the Magicians twice, 5-1 at Rotary Field on September 5 and 3-0 in Minot on October 1.
