FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Friday, October 4, 2024, the North Dakota Highway Patrol conducted a sobriety
checkpoint at Highway 18 and 40th Street SE in Cass County. The checkpoint was conducted from 7:30 PM until 9:30 PM. During the enforcement,194 vehicles passed through the checkpoint; ten drivers were evaluated for possible DUI violations, and none were arrested.

Eight drug citations, two open container citations; and one Minor in Possession citation were issued. In addition, two juveniles in possession of tobacco were issued citations. Just prior to the start of the checkpoint, a Trooper assigned to the enforcement arrested a driver for Driving Under Suspension (DUS); two drug charges; and DUI (drugs).

A saturation effort was conducted in Cass County after the checkpoint. During the saturation, the following were issued: one DUI with a minor present arrest; one open container citation; one simple domestic assault charge; one violation of instructional permit citation; one disobedience to a traffic control device citation; one expired registration citation; and one
seatbelt violation citation. In addition, 10 warnings were issued.
