MINOT – The bid for Jamestown Blue Jays Boys Tennis to make the state tournament fell short Thursday when Bismarck Century defeated Jamestown 5-0 in the state qualifying round of the West Region tournament at Hammond Park.

In the first-round match, Jamestown, the fifth seed, lost 5-0 to fourth seed Bismarck Legacy before defeating eighth seed Williston 3-2 in the consolation round.

Luke LeFevre, Braxton Burkett and Aden Oettle won singles matches for the Blue Jays against Williston.

The individual tournament will be held Friday and Saturday.
