On a windy day in West Fargo, the Valley City Hi-Liners aimed to pull off an upset in their play-in round matchup against the West Fargo Packers.
Valley City sought to position itself for victory by focusing on a doubles sweep while hoping to secure a win in singles. The Hi-Liners managed to execute half of their plan, but the Packers’ experience and depth in singles play proved too much as they secured a 3-2 victory after sweeping singles.
Head coach Matt Nelson shared his thoughts after another tough loss: “It stings to lose. We have lost several close matches this year, and this one was no different. We wanted this one to have the opportunity to play at regionals on Thursday after missing out last season. This group of juniors has a shot to go next season and to continue mentoring the next generation of Hi-Liners. I am proud of this team.”
The EDC individuals tournament will be on on Friday and Saturday in Fargo.
