JAMESTOWN – Brad Fortin had a go-ahead shorthanded goal and an assist Friday as the Jamestown Jimmies began their ACHA Division 1 season Friday with a 4-1 win over Midland at Wilson Arena.
Fortin scored 8:37 into the second period to give Jamestown a 2-1 lead. He had set up the Jimmies’ tying goal in the first period by Kole Christenssen.
A powerplay goal by Kaelan Shelton with just over seven minutes to go extended the Jimmie lead to 3-1. Keaton Cline scored into an empty net with 1:12 to go.
Brandon Weare stopped 25 of 26 Midland shots. The Jimmies outshot the Warriors 45-26.
Jamestown will host Midland again Saturday night at 7:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
