Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes returned to the win column in a big way on Thursday as they beat the Rebels of Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier in 4 sets (25-13, 16-25, 25-23. 25-15).
The match started with Oakes jumping out to an early 9-4 lead in set 1 with Ann Muggli throwing up a ton of blocks which the Rebels could not figure a way around. The Tornadoes continued to build their lead and eventually won 25-13.
Set 2 saw the Rebels flip the script as they began to find a way around Oakes’ front lines. The set saw EKM build the lead all the way to 18-10 a complete turn-around from set 1. The Tornadoes wouldn’t be able to cut the lead down as the Rebels would win 25-16.
Set 3 was the closest set of the night. There would be 10 ties in the set and 4 lead changes. The set would see Oakes have a lead as large as 3 several times in the set and EKM had a 2 point lead several times. Their would be one last tie at 23-23 after Oakes being up 23-20. They’d take a timeout and come out and score the next 2 points to win 25-23.
Set 4 was almost a repeat of set 1 with Oakes getting out to an early 12-4 lead. The Rebels would never be able to recover in the set and the Tornadoes would win 25-15 to take the match.
The Bank North Player of the Game was Lexi Harris who had a ton of amazing digs through out the match.
