(NewsDakota.com) After a quick slip off the track earlier this week against the Enderlin Eagles, the Oakes High School girls basketball team got back on the track win a convincing 57-44 win on the road at Wyndmere against the Wyndmere-Lidgerwood Warbirds on Thursday night.

The hometown Warbirds jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first few minutes, but the Tornadoes responded with a 14-0 run, and never looked back the rest of the game. At times in the second half, the Warbirds were able to pull within two possessions, but from the end of the first quarter on, the visiting Tornadoes had the advantage on the scoreboard, thanks in large part to Nicole Warren’s 27 first half points

Oakes (9-6 4-1 District 1) was lead in scoring by Warren with 34 points. The Warbirds, who now have lost seven games in a row, and haven’t won since January 12 had player as their best scorer  Anna Mauch with 14 points. The Warbirds record now stands at record with a 1-5 mark in District 1 play.

Next up for the Tornadoes are a couple of home matches early next week. North Sargent comes to Oakes on Monday evening, a makeup game from last month, and Milnor visits on Tuesday night.
