VALLEY CITY, ND  (VCSUVikings.com)  The Valley City State football team is back in non-conference action at Augsburg University Friday night under the lights. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. in Minneapolis.

The Vikings look to bounce back after dropping its season opener to Minot State last week. Augsburg, an NCAA Division III school, is hosting VCSU for its season opener.

Fans attending the game are required to purchase tickets online as admission at Augsburg is cashless. Tickets are encouraged to be purchased in advance.

HISTORY
The Vikings and Auggies have met three times in school history and the visiting team has won each game they’ve faced off. Augsburg holds the 2-1 advantage going into Friday’s matchup.

LAST SEASON
Augsburg finished its 2023 campaign with a 6-4 overall record. The Auggies return 2023 All-Conference seniors in wide receiver Dominic Smith, offensive lineman Andrew Hahn, and linebacker Hamsa Kahin. At wide receiver, Smith recorded 43 receptions for 611 yards, 14 touchdowns and an average of 67.9 yards per game.

LAST WEEK
VCSU is coming off a 38-7 loss to NCAA Div. II Minot State University in its season opener. Noah Chambers finished with 15 completions in 31 attempts for 181 yards and one touchdown. Laggarius Marshell rushed for 41 yards in eight attempts, and Gavin Gerhardt led the Viking defense with 14 tackles, one TFL and a fumble recovery.
