MAPLETON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A high-speed pursuit that began in Minnesota ended near Mapleton, with the arrest of a 30-year-old man driving a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol attempted to stop a 2023 Audi Q7 on Interstate 94 around 9:40 p.m. Sunday after the vehicle crossed into North Dakota, following a pursuit by Minnesota State Patrol. The driver, Dustin Powell, who has no permanent address, fled westbound at high speeds before being forced to stop in a field about three miles northwest of Mapleton.

Powell was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fleeing, aggravated reckless driving, and DUI test refusal.

No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
