VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com, video submitted by Erik Eggert)  The Northern Lights and meteor shower that lit up skies all around the area were captured by Erik Eggert recently, with video being submitted.

Solar weather experts say the sun is reaching a peak in it’s solar cycle, a 22-year period of intensifying and fading of the sun.  Charged particles expelled from the sun’s activity create the northern lights, a process that is expected to be very active for the next year.

The meteor shower was an added treat to the nighttime skies, and very active.
